Info for Primary Schools and Preschools:
Mess Chef Cookery & Sensory Play classes are a proven way to inspire a love of food and cooking in young children. Since 2017 these classes have provided a stress-free environment for hundreds of children to try new foods and broaden their food knowledge
Mess Chef Classes focus on REAL FOOD. From houmous and dippers, to tasty smoothies, to pasta salads – at every session, children explore a range of healthy ingredients using all the senses, and experience the joy of creating a recipe they can share with their friends.
Included in each class are:
- An investigation of fresh ingredients using fun sensory techniques
- Preparation and tasting of a healthy recipe, taking in a variety of hands-on kitchen skills and including using our Kiddikutter Childrens Safety Knives (Cut food, not fingers!!)
- Sensory play session, giving children the opportunity to interact with the food in a zero-pressure environment
We bring all the ingredients, equipment and games needed on the day,
and take the mess away with us!
Classes and recipe can be chosen to tie in with your school's themes – from Healthy Eating to Outer Space! All allergies and dietary restrictions can be catered for also.
Mess Chef Cookery Classes are facilitated by Róisin Matthews (MSc in Culinary Innovation and Food Product Development). She is trained in food safety, first aid and is garda vetted. Class activities are fully covered by public liability insurance. Quotes can be given for individual workshops or multi-class visits and/or a course of classes.
